With Sporting prodigy Nuno Mendes likely to be the next talent to come out of Liga NOS, the rumours on his future will not stop showing up.

Last weekend, it was Manchester United linked to the defender once again, as newspaper Record claimed there was a summer deal being worked on by an intermediary.

Now, Sporting manager Ruben Amorim was quizzed about the 18-year-old ace and the possibilities of him switching clubs this summer.

Speaking to the local media, the Lions’ leader made it clear he would like the club to keep Nuno for as long as possible.

“Nuno Mendes is not ready to leave Sporting this year, nor next year, nor will he be the following year. I think that in five years he can leave Sporting,” said Portuguese tactician (via Record).

“We want to stay with the best even though we know that the market has laws. At the moment it is, Portuguese football needs to sell, Sporting and the other clubs, but our idea doesn’t stop there.

“Nuno has a contract with Sporting and a high termination clause. There is no concern whatsoever because Nuno is happy.”

When speaking of the chase for the player, Record names the likes of the Red Devils, Real Madrid, Manchester City, among others.

In case the English heavyweights decide to trigger Nuno Mendes’ buy-out clause, that would be €70 million.
