Raphael Varane seeking £400,000-a-week in wages in order to join Manchester United
According to The Independent, Manchester United will need to fork out £400,000-a-week in wages to land Real Madrid star Raphael Varane this summer.
The Frenchman is close to entering his final year as a Real Madrid player and could potentially leave on a free transfer next summer. With the Spaniards keen to cash in instead, he could bid goodbye to the Santiago Bernabeu this summer.
The player for his part looks set for a new challenge. He appears ready to join United, who have earmarked him as their priority defensive target this summer.
Manchester United are keen on signing Raphael Varane.
The Red Devils are however wary of breaking the bank for the 28-year-old. Given the mess we got into following the signing of Alexis Sanchez, the stand is understandable.
Varane feels he is now ready to move after a trophy-filled decade at Madrid. The Spaniards are in need of a rebuild and have only recently swapped Zinedine Zidane for Carlo Ancelotti. With Sergio Ramos also set to leave the club, these are uncertain times for Los Blancos.
Ligue 1 giants Paris Saint-Germain are also an option for Varane. However, he is keen to move to the Premier League. For now, money appears to be the biggest roadblock in us landing the player.
Varane’s spell at Real has been largely successful, with him winning four Champions Leagues and three La Liga titles. A number of clubs including Manchester City and Chelsea are also keeping tabs on the player.
