Manchester United have been interested in signing Saul Niguez for a long time and this summer, they have a great opportunity to finally get his signing done.
Old Trafford legend, Rio Ferdinand, has been a huge admirer of the Spanish international and now, he has backed the Red Devils to secure the midfielder this summer.
The 42-year-old retired defender told on his YouTube channel FIVE:
“I think if the right player becomes available for the right price, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will go and get him. Saul Niguez would be a perfect fit and he’s asking price was £160m a couple of years ago, now it’s more like £40-50m.”
“In today’s game that’s a decent price for someone like him who has Champions League experience. I’m a big fan of his. If you can get him in this window, I think you do it.”
Earlier this month, Sport reported that in previous transfer windows, Man Utd tried but mainly failed to sign him because of the high release clause of 150 million euros. However, the Spanish media outlet stated that this summer, the La Roja star wants to leave the Rojiblancos and can be lured for a fee of 50 million euros (£42.6million).
The 26-year-old versatile star can play in multiple midfield positions. He can maneuver and strike the ball with both feet. Saul can dribble and pass well and like most Spanish midfielders, he is very comfortable in possession.
In your view, should Man Utd bid £42.6million to finally sign Saul Niguez?
If his asking price drops now that is a telling sign of his performance as well. I would advice let’s look for another player.
