Manchester United are reportedly keeping a close tabs on the progress of Bayer Leverkusen defender Edmond Tapsoba.
The 22-year-old defender has joined Leverkusen from Vitoria Guimaraes in the winter transfer window 2020 and has played 51 games for the German giants in all competitions, including 29 appearances during the 2020-21 season.
According to The Express, the 20-time English giants have been keeping tabs on the defender after being alerted to his progress by ‘a well-respected figure in Germany’.
The report suggests that Man United received the tip-off last year and have since been following Tapsoba closely, while the Merseyside Reds are believed to have explored the possibility of a January deal.
A number of other Premier League teams are also believed to be interested in the defender, with Leicester City and Wolves mentioned as possible suitors.
Tapsoba has played in all, however, two of Leverkusen’s 23 Bundesliga games this campaign.
Liverpool see him as a perfect defensive partner for Virgil van Dijk and ready to rival Man Utd for his services.
Liverpool and Man Utd also go head-to-head to sign Napoli centre-back Kalidou Koilibaly who is likely to be on his way out from Serie A giants in the summer.
