Manchester United and Liverpool have reportedly entered the race to land Sevilla forward Youssef En-Nesyri in the summer.
But David Moyes’ West Ham United remain in pole position to secure the Moroccan attacker’s signature.
The Hammers tried to sign Youssef to replace Sebastian Haller a couple of months ago but their £26.7 million offer was knocked back.
They remain keen on the 23-year-old star and are expected to up their offer at the end of the campaign.
But, according to Estadio Deportivo, the Red Devils and the Reds see the striker as a possible alternative to the in-demand Erling Haaland.
Sevilla are said to be willing to let go of their player for around £40m, in spite of efforts to renew his deal – although his current contract does still have four years left to run.
The Irons will want to get a deal done as quickly as possible, in order to prevent Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s sid or the Anfield outfit swooping in.
The former Leganes and Malaga hitman has scored 23 goals this term, including 16 in La Liga and a further six in the UEFA Champions League.
He impressed in Los Nervionenses’ narrow defeat to Borussia Dortmund last month, netting twice against the Germans at Signal Iduna Park.
