Tottenham are set to target Ligue 1 side Lille’s Mike Maignan as they look to land a new No 1 goalkeeper and that could pave the way for veteran shot-stopper Hugo Lloris to join Manchester United, reports in France say.
The club spent big last year on Sergio Reguilon, Matt Doherty, Gareth Bale, Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, Carlos Vinicius, Joe Rodon, Giovani Lo Celso and Joe Hart but it is yet to pay dividends.
More reinvestment is needed next campaign if they are to keep onto Harry Kane, as Spurs look to close the gap at the top of the English top-flight.
According to French outlet L’Equipe, there could be one eye-catching change on the cards between the sticks with Spurs set to target Lille number one Maignan and that could pave the way for Hugo to join United.
Lloris was a target for United six years ago while there were also whispers of a possible move as recent as 2020.
While the player is adored by the Tottenham folklore, the Spurs star’s performances have been questioned on plenty of occasions this term.
Now Tottenham are reportedly looking to bring in Mike, who is one of France’s back-up shot-stoppers behind Lloris.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is expected to bring in a new goalkeeper this summer in spite of already having two at his disposal.
Youngster Dean Henderson is trying his best to become the club’s new No 1 ahead of David de Gea.
However, it’s been suggested that Ole could turn to the transfer market this summer to land an undisputed world-class goalkeeper to end the conundrum.
Hugo would fit the bill and has just 18 months remaining on his existing Tottenham contract.
