Another day, another central defender is linked with Manchester United and this time, the name of Edmond Tapsoba is in the lime light again.
According to Sport Bild (via Sport Witness), Man Utd have made contact to sign the African star from Bayer Leverkusen in the summer transfer window to reinforce their backline for the next campaign.
The Burkina Faso international still has five years remaining on his contract with the Bundesliga side, so, he is not going to come for cheap.
Back in March, Simon Rolfes told Bild that it would take an immoral offer, similar to the amount Chelsea paid to hire the services of Kai Havertz, to part ways with the 22-year-old central defender.
The Stamford Bridge outlet paid a huge fee of £71million (BBC) to lure the German international and it would be fair to say that the Kaiser repaid that fee when he scored the winning goal against Manchester City in the Champions League final last Saturday.
So, Man Utd might have to bid around £71million if they are to sign Tapsoba, who was one of the top performers for the German side in the last campaign.
Under Peter Bosz, the 14-capped international featured in 31 out of the 34 league fixtures and helped his team keep the third-best defensive record in the league. Only Leipziged and Wolfsburg conceded fewer goals than Bayer Leverkusen.
At Old Trafford, the likes of Lindelof, Tuanzebe and Bailly have not proved to be consistent enough under Solskjaer, who needs to sign a reliable center back to partner captain Harry Maguire. In your opinion, should Ole move to lure Edmond Tapsoba?
