Manchester United were desperately looking to improve their No. 6 position in the summer transfer window and they ended up luring Casemiro from Real Madrid.

There were several top quality players on the radar at Old Trafford. Frenkie de Jong was always in the lime light and another player in the focus was Ruben Neves.

Back in June, The Sun exclusively reported Man United’s interest in the Portuguese international but Wolves managed to hold on to their prized asset by asking a mammoth fee of £75million.

The latest update coming from Spain suggests the versatile midfielder has made his decision for next summer.

According to Sport, the Red Devils and Liverpool moved in and made contact with Neves’ representatives in order to secure the signing.

However, the Catalan news source have mentioned that the Selecao star did not want to listen to the Premier League giants because he wants to move to Barcelona.

It is stated that the 25-year-old is confident he will succeed at the Nou Camp under the guidance of club legend, Xavi Hernandez.

Ruben Neves has proved his worth in England. The former Porto player has made over 200 appearances for Wolves. He can effectively play in the No. 6 position and has proved to be effective from set piece situations as well.

He was a key member of the Portugal team that won the inaugural UEFA Nations League and would likely be part of their World Cup squad.

Even after signing Casemiro, Man Utd need to further reinforce things in the center of the park. In your view, who should Erik ten Hag sign to strengthen the department?
