Manchester United are targeting Valencia star Uros Racic, according to the latest reports.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has already bolstered his midfield options with the £40 million signing of Donny van de Beek from Dutch side Ajax this summer.
But United have also been mentioned with a move for Thiago Alcantara, with Bayern Munich demanding a €30m (£27.6m) transfer fee for the Spain international.
The Red Devils, however, have been put off by the star’s wage demands, which are in excess of £200,000 per week.
According to The Sun, the club have now turned their attention to Los Che’s central midfielder Racic.
The 22-year-old star has made just two appearances for the Spanish outfit and has spent the last two season on loan at Tenerife and then at Portuguese outfit Famalicao.
Racic has a £92m exit clause in his deal with Valencia but The Sun reports that an offer of £28m from United could be enough to land him.
The Serb, who is yet to be capped by the senior team, stands at 6ft 4in and offers a powerful presence in midfield.
The Red Devils have been keeping tabs on Racic’s displays and the 22-year-old could provide competition for Nemanja Matic in Ole’s midfield.
Meanwhile, United’s hopes of landing Jadon Sancho before the transfer window closes next month continue to fade as Borussia Dortmund remain adamant that the attacker will not be leaving.
The club could now turn to a loan deal for Gareth Bale, with Real Madrid want the Wales international to leave the club.
Reports have suggested that Gareth would be open to joining United, although the 31-year-old’s £600,000 per week salary could prove to be a stumbling block as the Galacticos would need to fund part of his wages.
