Manchester United are said to be keen to sign Real Madrid’s Sergio Reguilon, who could be available this summer.
Chelsea were said to be interested in the Spanish left-back but snapped up England and Leicester star Ben Chilwell instead on Wednesday.
Having come through Los Blancos’ youth academy, Reguilon has struggled to break into Zinedine Zidane’s senior team at the Bernabeu.
The 23-year-old star impressed while on loan at Sevilla last campaign, marking his first full year of La Liga football.
But with Ferland Mendy and Marcelo currently battling it out for the left-back position, it appears there is no room for Reguilon to return.
As such, he is being mentioned with a move away from the club this summer, and Zinedine is believed to be willing to sell him for as little as £18 million.
With Chelsea now out of the picture, local newspaper Marca report that United are now eyeing a swoop for Reguilon.
It’s thought that his displays on loan for Sevilla attracted the interest of the Old Trafford senior figures.
Juventus, Inter Milan and Tottenham Hotspur are also credited with interest in Sergio, who is yet to receive his first full cap for Spain.
United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer assured supporters that he was looking to improve his side this transfer window, though he admitted he didn’t know when deals would be done.
“I cannot say when or if transfers will be done but we are looking at it and we’ll have to sit down because it’s a quick turnaround,” Ole said.
“We’ve got to be 100 per cent sure when we make those deals.
“It’s going to be a strange summer. We’ve only got a couple weeks away from each other until we get going again. That’s going to be a mental challenge.
“Of course, we’ll keep pushing and keep demanding more of players we have but we’re looking to improve.”
