French outlet Foot Mercato have reported that Manchester United and Arsenal are both in the race to sign Bayern Munich star Corentin Tolisso this summer, with the player surplus to requirements in Germany.

The 25-year-old joined Die Roten in the summer of 2017 for £36 million from Lyon and got off to a brilliant start in the Bundesliga. Corentin had a hand in 17 goals during his first 40 games, netting 10 and creating seven assists.

However, after just four appearances in his second campaign, the 21-time France international suffered an ACL injury. Returning this season, Corentin has not been the same – scoring only three times in 24 games.

Many clubs are keen on luring him away from Bayern with the German champions prepared to listen to offers. The Red Devils and the Gunners are mentioned, as are Napoli, Atletico Madrid and Juventus.

The Mirror have stated in the past that legendary manager Arsene Wenger has wanted to bring Tolisso to the Emirates Stadium.

The Red Devils could do with additions in the middle of the pitch. The club have triggered a one-year extension in Nemanja Matic’s deal, but Juan Mata is due to see his deal expire – and Jesse Lingard has been linked with an exit.

Bringing in a playmaker to play alongside Bruno Fernandes could be good business for United, but the Gunners need Tolisso so much more. Mesut Ozil could depart this summer, but even if does not, Tolisso is needed.

Dani Ceballos is due to return to Real Madrid, leaving his side with just Matteo Guendouzi, Lucas Torreira, Joe Willock and Granit Xhaka. A bit of a spark is needed in Arsenal’s midfield, and Corentin is capable of that.
