Man Utd ‘in talks’ to beat Real Madrid to January transfer swoop
17-year-old midfielder Yusuf Demir has been linked with a number of top European clubs.
Manchester United and Real Madrid are reportedly interested in signing teenage midfielder Yusuf Demir from Rapid Vienna. The 17-year-old has made 14 senior appearances in the Austrian Bundesliga and Europa League this season and been linked with a number of top European clubs.
A report from Defenca Central claims that United and Real are among those interested in the midfielder, with the Red Devils said to be the most interested.
The report notes that United have not made a concrete offer yet but they are in talks with the player’s entourage.
Vienna are said to have set a €10m (£8.9m) asking price for Demir, who is also said to be on Barcelona’s radar.
Speaking to TransferMarket earlier this month, Demir revealed that he hopes to play for a “top European team one day”.
He said: “Of course I want to play for a top European team one day, but everything step by step.
“Everything has it’s time. The most important thing is to be successful with Rapid now. Everything else comes about after good performance from me.
“Of course I have goals, such as winning as many titles as possible or even the Champions League.
“Personally, ever since I was a little kid, I have had the dream of one day winning the Ballon d’Or.”
