Manchester United’s three best teenage midfielders including Hannibal Mejbri
Manchester United’s next generation look brighter than most. A club famous for giving youth a chance have been on a scouting spree in recent times, bringing in some of Europe’s top young talent.
Here are three midfielders who look destined for the top, including two European recruits and one youngster who joined United in 2017.
Hannibal Mejbri
United signed Mejbri from Monaco for a fee potentially rising to £9million (MEN) when he was just 16. And he is proving his worth for the Red Devils’ second string this season.
Still only 17, the Frenchman has 18 under-23 appearances. In that time, he has scored three goals and provided eight assists.
In short, this is one United youngster who fully justifies the hype and it might not be long before he gets his first-team chance.
United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will bed him in slowly. but there is only so long a player with this much quality can be kept on the periphery.
Ethan Galbraith
United have a rich history in unsung heroes and Ethan Galbraith is on course to be another of those.
The 19-year-old has already featured 33 times for United’s U18s and 28 times for the U23s.
Predominantly a holding midfielder who can also play further forward, Galbraith’s hard work ensures his teammates can sparkle further forward.
He could well be the next youngster to break into United’s senior side given his work ethic and innate talent. That skill has already seen him earn a senior cap for Northern Ireland.
Isak Hansen-Aaroen
Norwegian midfielder Isak Hansen-Aaroen had been on United’s radar long before he finally arrived.
Solskjaer’s side agreed a fee with Hansen-Aaroen’s former club Tromso in 2019 but he had to wait until his 16th birthday to seal the deal.
The teenager racked up seven senior appearances for his former club when he was only 15. And he has wasted little time impressing since heading to Old Trafford.
