NEW UPDATE: Atletico Madrid reiterate firm stance on future of £82,000 a-week Manchester United target

Atletico Madrid have made it clear they won’t sell Kieran Trippier to Manchester United for less than his €60 million exit clause this summer.

That’s according to AS, who report the Spanish giants have referred to the clause once again when United have quizzed about the star this summer.

The newspaper explains how Los Rojiblancos simply are not interested in a sale in spite of the Red Devils and Arsenal both wanting Trippier.

Diego Simeone’s side aren’t keen on losing him as the club consider the former Tottenham star as essential to their team.

They have, therefore refused to negotiate for Kieran, and time and time again, they have told his potential buyers, that he is not for sale, making it clear that they’d have to pay his €60 million buy-out clause to get him.

That is a complicated figure for any side to pay for a 30-year-old, in spite of the fact he enjoyed a superb season with Atletico last season and a very good Euro 2020 with England.

€60m is hefty transfer fee, particularly when you consider the money the Old Trafford outfit have already paid out on signings this summer.

Such a figure makes Kieran returning to his homeland even less likely than it already was, with the La Liga champions’ stance also seemingly preventing anything getting remotely close to starting up.
