As far as disappointing deals go last year, Donny van de Beek’s from his boyhood club Ajax to Manchester United has to be close to the top of the list.
The excitement surrounding his arrival was quite palpable. The star struggled to find a place in manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s plans, leading many to question the motives behind the transfer in the first place.
To cap an already miserable campaign off, Donny was then forced to pull out of his country’s squad just before the Euros with an injury, meaning he’ll now be working hard to be fully fit for the start of the Red Devils’ preseason.
The latest news coming out of the Netherlands, around the time of his injury, suggested United are not looking to part ways with the player, but any disappointing campaign does come with unwanted transfer rumours.
The latest concerning Donny comes from Corriere dello Sport, who describes the former de Joden starlet as an advantageous opportunity on loan for AC Milan, as long as the Red Devils are willing to get rid of him.
After all, the relationship between the two sides is rather good following the productive temporary deal for Diogo Dalot struck last year, so perhaps this could be the perfect move for van de Beek to rekindle his career in a team that will actually start him in matches.
