Southampton star Danny Ings has allegedly rejected a new deal at St Mary’s amid speculation Manchester United are keen on signing the striker this summer.
Ings’ current contract is due to expire next year and there has been uncertainty growing surrounding the star’s future, with the Saints yet to make any progress about a possible extension.
United have been closely monitoring the 28-year-old’s situation and recently made an enquiry for Danny as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer aims to add quality to his attacking ranks after finally signing Jadon Sancho and tying down Edinson Cavani for further one year.
According to The Athletic, the Red Devils could have a realistic chance of signing Ings this summer, with his contract talks still at an impasse.
Money is not said to be an issue for the Englishman but the ex-Liverpool man is hoping for another shot with a top team competing for major honours after his poor, injury-ravaged three-year stint on Merseyside.
It means the club may be forced to decide whether to sell Ings this summer or risk losing him on a free transfer at the end of next term.
Recent reports suggested Southampton could be willing to sell Danny should they receive a bid of between £25-30m for his signature over the coming weeks.
