Manchester United have allegedly scouted AFC Wimbledon’s rising star Matthew Cox with a view to sign him up this summer’s transfer window, according to a recent report from The Telegraph.

The Englishman came through the ranks at AFC Wimbledon and has been involved with the club’s U18 setup, making three appearances in the FA Youth Cup this term in which he managed to secure one clean sheet.

The ace made his debut for the England U17 side this past February, following which Matthew penned his first professional deal with the Dons.

In the aftermath of his breakthrough for his country’s youth team, Cox has attracted quite a bit of interest from the English top-flight with several clubs said to have fielded enquiries for the 17-year-old talent.

Among them are Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side as well, who have sent scouts to follow the young goalkeeper, who has made it to the senior team bench on a few occasions this season.

United have ramped up their youth recruitment over the past season or so.

Last summer saw the Red Devils sign several promising youngsters such as Marc Jurado, Charlie McNeill, Alvaro Fernandez, Willy Kambwala among many others.

Heading into the upcoming transfer market, the 20-time English champions have once again been associated with a lot of prospects with potential.
