West Ham United target Manchester United outcast, Phil Jones, ahead of the summer transfer window
According to Eurosport, West Ham United are interested in signing Manchester United outcast Phil Jones to shore up their flagging defence.
The Hammers may be flying high at the moment but only have the second-worst defence among the top 11 teams currently. While Jones is a skilled defender, injuries and a loss of form have made him the forgotten man at Old Trafford.
The 29-year-old has not played for the club this season and is expected to leave in the summer. It will bring to an end an initially promising but eventually underwhelming 10-year spell at Old Trafford.

With the Hammers looking set to secure European qualification, David Moyes is keen to strengthen his squad. He has identified Jones as one such acquisition. (h/t Eurosport)
Having managed him briefly during his stint as United boss, Moyes is well aware of the player’s strengths and ability. Given his standing at United at the moment, a parting ways with Jones is something that the club would welcome.
In fact, United were said to be ready to part ways with Jones in a deal to secure West Ham skipper Declan Rice in the summer. The Hammers are also keen on Jesse Lingard and it remains to be seen if the Red Devils are willing to sanction a two-for-one deal.
Jones has played 224 times for United during his decade long stay at the club. He was a part of the United side that won the 2012-13 Premier League title, the 2016 FA Cup and the 2017 Europa League.
