Manchester United have identified Atletico Madrid forward Joao Felix as a target for the next transfer window, according to Le10 Sport.

The French publication claims that the Red Devils want the Portuguese international to follow in the footsteps of Cristiano Ronaldo and move to Old Trafford.

They have reportedly held internal discussions about making an offer for Felix and they are said to have made initial contact about signing the 20-year-old.

Atletico would, however, be extremely reluctant to sell the striker, after having spent €126m (£110m) on the player last summer.

Manager Diego Simeone sees Felix as an integral part of his plans going forward, and the Portuguese is highly unlike to be available unless Atletico are pressured into selling due to financial issues.

His agent is Jorge Mendes, who also happens to be Ronaldo’s representative, and Le10 Sport believe this could help facilitate a move in the future if his club are open to a sale.
