In the January transfer window, Paul Pogba was heavily linked with a move away from Manchester United (Tutto Sport).
If the latest reports in the media are anything to go by then the French international is close to agreeing a new deal with the Red Devils.
According to an exclusive story covered by The Sun last night, the Les Bleus midfielder is close to agreeing a fresh five year contract and Manchester United are confident of making the announcement at the end of the campaign.
The renowned British source have stated that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was preparing for the next season without Pogba in his plans but the Norwegian is now happy with the club’s record signing.
Since rejoining us back in 2016, the former Juventus star has been highly inconsistent. Moreover, this season, he has spent majority of his time on the treatment table.
So, in all fairness, I was of the view that he should be sold in the summer transfer window. However, things have changed now.
Since his return from injury and since the resumption of football, Pogba has been in top form. More importantly, he has been able to form a great understanding with star playmaker Bruno Fernandes.
The Portuguese international joined us in the winter window and since his arrival, he has taken all the pressure and the lime light away from Pogba and that has helped the Frenchman perform well.
Therefore, if the 27-year-old does end up signing the new contract, then, Solskjaer should not splash the cash for a new midfielder. Hopefully, the £290,000-a-week star (The Sun) will be consistent from now on-wards.
