Regarding manager Erik ten Hag’s future, Manchester United’s owners, the Glazers, and possibly new investor Sir Jim Ratcliffe are in agreement.

Man Utd’s poorest season opener since…

The Red Devils’ season has been incredibly frustrating thus far. On Wednesday night, they lost 3-0 to Newcastle United at Old Trafford in the EFL Cup. Man Utd has now dropped eight of their first 15 games this season across all competitions; this is a feat they haven’t experienced since the 1962–63 season. Ten Hag expressed his sympathy for Red Devils supporters following the cup exit.

“We are aware that it is inadequate. We must accept accountability for it. I must accept accountability for it. I’m sorry for the supporters. We must make amends because it fell short of our expectations. We need to bounce back from it as soon as possible. The next game comes on Saturday [against Fulham], and we need to improve. This is insufficiently good.”

Due to the team’s terrible performance, the Dutchman seems to be under pressure. In the last 48 hours, there have been rumours circulating about whether or not Glazers and Ratcliffe will fire Ten Hag. Prior to Wednesday’s loss to the Magpies, 90-minute reporters Graeme Bailey and Scott Saunders stated that Ten Hag’s position was considered safe by both Ratcliffe and the Glazers. Ratcliffe, Sir Dave Brailsford, and others due to take over also seem confidence in Ten Hag’s position, according to reports that Ten Hag “retains the full backing of the Manchester United hierarchy.”

If the Red Devils don’t make a quick turnaround, you may anticipate that the manager will be under increasing pressure. The next match for United is an early kickoff on Saturday at Fulham; a loss there might send them into the Premier League’s bottom half.
