Manchester United are prepared to hijack Real Madrid’s transfer for Ajax midfielder Donny van de Beek, Spanish reports claim.

The midfielder was part of Ajax’s run to the Champions League semi-finals and scored the decisive goal at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium as the Dutch side took a 1-0 lead against Mauricio Pochettino’s side in the first leg, and was a star performer in the second leg loss to the London club.

He has become one of the most coveted players in Europe after helping Ajax win the League, the Dutch Cup as well as Champions League success and there has been a lot of transfer speculation that some of Europes biggest clubs could make a move.

UNITED boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has become a fan of the exciting Dutchman after seeing him impressive performances, and with the Red Devils boss keen to improve his midfield this coming window, he is ready to battle the like of Madrid for De Beeks signature.

The LaLiga giants are said to have already agreed a deal with Van de Beek to sign him in the summer, having missed out on the 22-year-old earlier in the season, but according to the Daily Express, United bosses are plotting a bid to convince the player against moving to the Spanish capital in favour of Old Trafford.

However, it is understood United can only sign the midfielder should Real terminate their pre-agreement with Van de Beek. The Dutchman was close to making a move to the Bernabeu this season but after the Spanish giants failed to sell Gareth Bale and James Rodriquez it is claimed Van de Beek was told the transfer would have to be put on hold for a year.

It seems that Beek is all set for Madrid at the end of the season and United have missed out on a wonderful player, they should have made a move sooner.
