Manchester United have been linked with several attacking players this summer and one of them is Federico Chiesa. The latest reports are interesting.
According to Corriere Fiorentino, the Italian international was heading to Juventus in 2019 but Rocco B. Commisso, who took over the ownership of the Viola in June last year, blocked the transfer.
Now, the 22-year-old has made it clear that he wants to leave the Serie A side this summer and has no intentions of renewing his contract, which is due to expire in 2022.
The famous Italian news source have claimed that this time, the club owner is ready to let the attacker leave but only if his demands are met. It is mentioned that Man United satisfied Rocco’s conditions by making an offer of 50 million euros (£45million).
However, Chiesa turned down the chance to move to Old Trafford. Corriere Fiorentino report that the player does not want to move abroad because he thinks that the best way to play for the Azzurri in the European Championships next year is by staying in Italy.
Unfortunately, AC Milan, Inter Milan and even champions Juventus cannot afford him at the moment.
The 19-capped international is mainly a right winger but last season, he mostly played in the role of a center forward. In all competitions, he made 37 appearances and directly contributed in 20 goals (11 goals and 9 assists).
This season, so far, Chiesa has scored a goal and provided an assist in two Serie A appearances for Fiorentina.
Somehow Man United have consistently failed to improve their attack this summer. Will they be able to hire a top quality star before the closure of the window? Only time will tell.
