Leicester are in advanced negotiations with Manchester United target Harvey Barnes over a new deal, according to reports.
The 23-year-old English star has been in great form this campaign, bagging nine goals in the PL already.
That’s led to interest from elite clubs including the Red Devils and Liverpool and according to the Mirror, he is happy to commit his long-term future to the Foxes.
Discussions between his agent and the board are in an advanced stage, with the deal set to be confirmed in the coming weeks.
He sees the King Power as the ideal destination for European football and a possible England place. Barnes got his first cap versus Wales last year in a 3-0 victory.
If he continues his stunning form, the player could force his way into the English tactician Gareth Southgate’s plans for the Euros.
Barnes’ current deal runs until June 2024, but the management want to reward his ongoing development with an improved contract.
It’ll also help them to fend off interest from Manchester United and Liverpool.
The Old Trafford outfit want to sign Barnes as they see the talent as a cheaper alternative to Jadon Sancho.
Harvey could also become a long-term replacement for either Sadio Mane or Mohamed Salah at Anfield.
The player came through the ranks with the Foxes before making his senior team debut in 2016.
After a host of loan stints, he started to make his mark on the team last term.
He netted six goals and assisted eight more as his side finished in fifth to gain a Europa League place.
Barnes’ influence has carried on into the 2020/21 term. He is now one of their key players alongside the likes of James Maddison and Jamie Vardy.
