Manchester United defeated Manchester City yet again at the Etihad but they are still 11 points behind the Sky Blues with 10 games remaining in the Premier League.

The Red Devils need major signings to challenge the Cityzens for the title next season and a former Old Trafford player has backed them to sign two top quality players.

Lee Sharpe has backed Man Utd to secure the signings of Erling Haaland and Jadon Sancho from Borussia Dortmund.

The retired midfielder told Ladbrokes that the 20-time English champions need an upgrade on James and Greenwood and Sancho fits the bill (via MEN):

“Jadon Sancho on the right – I think United are still lacking real quality out in that position.”

On the other hand, as far as the strike-force is concerned, the 49-year-old said that the Norwegian center forward must be lured. He stated:

“And the other name is obviously Erling Haaland. On his day Anthony Martial can be a world-beater, but he doesn’t have enough of those days. Edinson Cavani, we’ve seen, struggles to stay fit and perform week-in, week-out, whereas Haaland has proven himself over the last few years as one of the best in the world in that position.”

Both Sancho and Haaland have regularly scored and created goals for BvB and therefore, it is not surprising that their market values are extremely high.

As per reports going on in the media, it would require a combined fee of £217million to hire the services of the dnamic duo.

According to Spanish outlet Mundo Deportivo, Haaland, who has already netted 29 goals for the German side this term, is going to cost 150 million euros (£129million).

On the other hand, last month, Mirror Sportreported (via Sport Bild) claiming that next summer, Sancho would be valued at around £88million.

Dortmund are currently 6th in the Bundesliga table and could lose out on Champions League qualification for next season. If that happens, the club would suffer major losses and might end up losing Haaland and Sancho (Goal).

In your opinion, should Man Utd break the bank to sign the top quality duo in the summer transfer window?
