Bayern Munich defender David Alaba could be tempted to sign for a Premier League club next season amid interest from Manchester United and Chelsea, in spite of Real Madrid being the overwhelming frontrunners for his signature, according to the latest reports.

The 28-year-old star will leave the Bavarian heavyweights at the end of the campaign after rejecting the chance to extend his stay in Bundesliga.

David is out of contract at the end of the current season and, as a result, can be approached by foreign teams with a view to a free transfer in the summer.

Los Blancos have been heavily linked with his services in the latest months, with the Spanish champions believed to be eyeing him as a potential replacement for icon Sergio Ramos, who is yet to agree to fresh terms.

Alaba is said to harbour a strong desire to play for the Galacticos but could be set to reject their advances in favour of a Premier League transfer, according to German outlet Sport Bild.

The report states that Alaba’s entourage is awaiting offers from England, with Chelsea understood to be the main contenders for his signature.

Manchester United are another side to have been mentioned with a summer move but don’t appear to be among the frontrunners at this time.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s focus is obviously on the summer transfer market.

He is said to want more pace and quality in the defence as the Norwegian tries to steer the Red Devils to success.
