Manchester United have reportedly been alerted to goalkeeper Jan Oblak’s desire to test himself in the Premier League next campaign with his Atletico Madrid career drawing to a close.
The 28-year-old star has two years remaining on his current deal but is, according to ESPN, keen to seek a new challenge after spending the last seven seasons cementing his reputation as one of the world’s best shot-stoppers with the Spanish club.
Atletico publicly insist that they won’t allow the Slovenia international to leave unless his €120m buy-out clause is triggered, but their dire financial situation means they’ll likely consider an offer significantly below that figure.
The Red Devils have been heavily linked with Jan in the past, but Ole Gunnar Solskajer currently boasts two potentially high class goalkeepers in the form of Dean Hendeson and David de Gea.
The Norwegian has rotated both players over the course of the last few weeks, with the Spaniard appearing in Europe and the Englishman afforded the opportunity to establish himself as the Red Devils’ Premier League No.1.
David is unlikely to settle for that situation next term and served a timely reminder of his class with a man-of-the-match showing against Roma.
