Manchester United haven’t initiated any contact with the Liga NOS giants Sporting Lisbon for 22-year-old Portuguese midfielder Pedro Goncalves, it has been reported in Portugal.

Sporting Lisbon signed the player last summer and the youngster has made a solid impression in the limited amount of time Pedro has been with the Portuguese side.

He has the ability to pay in a variety of positions and has netted eleven goals in 12 league games this season for his side.

Goncalves has already been linked with a transfer away from Sporting Lisbon with suggestions that the Red Devils have made a move to land the technically gifted midfielder this month.

But according to the Portuguese outlet Record, nothing concrete has happened yet and the English side have not been in touch with Leoes.

Manchester United purchased Bruno Fernandes from Sporting Lisbon in January in 2020 and the midfielder has had a talismanic effect on the team.

But it is unclear whether they’re looking at another solution at the same club with Goncalves and at the moment they haven’t made a move.

Ruben Amorim’s side are also unlikely to sell a player they just brought in last summer and are expected to turn down any offers.

The highly-rated midfielder has a €60m release clause in his current contract with Sporting Lisbon, which runs until 2025.

Meanwhile, Everton have allegedly moved ahead of Manchester United in the hunt to sign Independiente del Valle midfielder Moises Caicedo.

The 19-year-old ace has been strongly linked with United in the latest weeks, and South American football expert Tim Vickery recently reported that the Red Devils were in pole position for the player.

Independiente chief Santiago Morales recently denied that the Red Devils had been in contact and according to Extra, United have cooled their interest.

The report states that the Toffees are now leading the race for the ace.
