According to Spanish outlet Estadio Deportivo, Manchester United’s Sergio Romero is a January transfer market option for Valencia.

With Jaume Domenech looking unconvincing and Jasper Cillessen injured, as well as being unable to meet the demands of Eibar’s Mirko Dmitrovic and Granada’s Rui Silva, Romero is now seen as a target for Valencia.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer recently confirmed that Sergio’s contract – which expires in the summer – won’t be extended and that the hope is to move on the star, as well as Marcos Rojo this month.

Estadio Deportivo claim that ‘everything indicates’ that the Argentine will be available on a free transfer in January, with the La Liga outfit ‘well positioned’ to land the 33-year-old.

It seemed that Romero should have been allowed to leave in the summer, as his wife echoed on social media – but United did not show the keeper the ‘respect’ he has shown them in her own words.

Sergio has found himself out of favour after youngster Dean Henderson’s emergence as a promising talent, casting aside the South American after years of solid backup showings to David de Gea since 2015.

Romero is not part of his side’s Premier League or Champions League squads this term and not even handed a spot as third-choice owing to veteran Lee Grant being used to fill homegrown quotas.

It was clear that the towering stopper’s time at United was over when he was not even deployed by Ole Gunnar Solskjaer in last campaign’s cup semi-finals against Chelsea and Sevilla.

He has kept 39 clean sheets in his 61 matches for United, the keeper has also won 96 caps for his country’s national team over the years.
