Andreas Pereira’s long-awaited permanent transfer to Flamengo from Manchester United has yet to be completed, with PSV Eindhoven having declared an interest, according to a report from ESPN.
He moved to the Brazilian outfit in 2021 on a one-year loan deal and his current Old Trafford contract runs until June 2023.
The player has made 31 appearances thus far for Rubro-Negro in all competitions and has bagged five goals.
Paulo Sousa’s side have agreed on a fee of £10 million for Pereira, along with a clause that contains a future resale.
However, the switch now appears to be in doubt as the club have not finalised the deal because of financial uncertainty.
Their failure to push a total agreement over the line has now alerted other teams and there is interest from sides in the Netherlands, England and Spain.
Pereira’s former club PSV Eindhoven have now gone as far as expressing their interest in landing the 26-year-old midfielder.
He was prepared to accept a lower salary for his move to South America, which could also smooth a move elsewhere.
Elsewhere, Ajax manager Erik ten Hag has allegedly told the Manchester United board that he wants to be 100 per cent involved in the Red Devils’ transfer activity and the issuing of fresh contracts.
He is highly likely to be named the club’s new head coach in the coming weeks, and the Dutchman is expected to be handed a healthy transfer kitty in the upcoming market.
