Manchester United have finally announced the signing of Charlie McNeill from Manchester City.
With United now having completed the signing, McNeil has joined an illustrious group of new additions that includes the names of Marc Jurado, Alvaro Fernandez Carreras, Alejandro Garnacho, Isak Hansen-Aaoren, Logan Pye, Joe Hugill, and Radek Vitek.
McNeill loves operating as an out-and-out striker and owns the record of scoring more than 600 goals during his academy career for the Cityzens.
Thought to be a long-term replacement for Jadon Sancho at Man City, McNeill refused to sign a professional contract under the supervision of Pep Guardiola and chose Manchester United to pursue his development for the foreseeable future.
Confirming his departure, McNeill wrote a heart-warming farewell message.
He typed:
“A massive thank you to Man City for everything over the past six years.
“It’s been such a pleasure to play with some amazing players and I’ve made some amazing friends too. Thanks to all the staff and players for helping me develop as a player and also as a person. I wish everyone the very best.”
Besides Manchester United, both Leeds United and Wolverhampton Wanderers were interested in obtaining his services. But a move to United was already written on the wall.
The 17-year-old striker learnt the ABC of football in his childhood days at Manchester United. Then, he decided to join Manchester City in 2016, representing England up to Under-16s level and amplifying his game to the next level.
He will now join United’s U18s, where he will get the chance to flourish in his childhood colours and polish his traits even in a better way.
