According to transfer news from Ruhr Nachrichten (h/t Express), Borussia Dortmund star Manuel Akanji is open to joining Manchester United in the future,
The central defender is just one of three Dortmund players on United’s radar. The other two being winger Jadon Sancho and striker Erling Haaland.
The Red Devils are keen on bringing in a new central defender in the summer. A number of names across have been mooted with Akanji being the latest addition to the list. (h/t Express)
The 25-year-old made a name for himself at Basel before moving to Dortmund in 2018. He has since made 112 appearances for the Germans scoring three goals and assisting two more. (h/t Transfermarkt)
Akanji recently penned a one-year extension at Dortmund, prolonging his stay at the club till 2023. While an exit is considered unlikely in the immediate future, he would like to play for the Red Devils in the future.
Capable of playing anywhere across the backline, Akanji’s versatility would be an excellent addition to the United squad. At 25, he is also about to enter his prime and could be a shrewd addition.
