The Red Devils and Blues have been handed a boost in their pursuit of Lyon centre-forward Moussa Dembele. Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas has admitted that he might be forced to sell U21 France international and other players who want to play in the UCL.
“I am going to do everything to keep the footballers,” Jean-Michel Aulas said, who state that Man United and Chelsea have been among Moussa’s admirers. “But the footballers who are programmed to play in Europe could want to go elsewhere because we don’t have European football.”
Blues have been short of options upfront this campaign, with Frank not handing many chances to the unconvincing pair of Michy Batshuayi and Olivier Giroud. Dembele’s form in France shows that he could be the perfect solution to the London club’s problems and give them more of a goal threat next campaign.
Meanwhile, Red Devils could also do with another centre-forward, with the Norwegian manager relying heavily on Marcus Rashford this campaign before his injury halted his season. Man United coach is yet to make Odion Ighalo’s move permanent and it stays to be seen if the team will view that as the perfect solution.
The 23-year-old centre-forward is younger so could be a better long-term option for Red Devils, even if he’d likely be more expensive. It is believed that Lyon have set an asking price of £60m for the French striker. Man United heavily linked with Ajax star Donny van de Beek, Aston Villa attacker Jack Grealish and PSG right-back Thomas Menier.
