Manchester United striker Cristiano Ronaldo’s game time at Old Trafford could be dramatically reduced if they are successful in their well-known pursuit of Victor Osimhen.
The 22-year-old Napoli star has impressed for his side this season having hit 11 goals in 22 appearances in spite of missing two months of action because of a cheekbone injury.
Since returning to I Partenopei in January, the Nigerian netted two goals in six outings and is reportedly on the German tactician Ralf Rangnick’s radar.
According to Rai Sport’s Ciro Venerato, he is the Red Devils’ primary target to replace the living legend in the summer but the Serie A outfit wants at least €98 million (£84 million) for the youngster.
Ronaldo returned to the Theatre of Dreams last summer and in spite of hitting the ground running, the player’s form has dried up and Cristiano has scored just once in his last 10 matches.
The Portugal international is under contract until June 2023 but is on £480,000-a-week, making him the best-paid PL player.
Cristiano is also 37 making him 15 years older than Victor so it is easy to see why Ralf is interested in the former Lille ace.
Despite the superstar’s slump in form, the former Real Madrid and Juventus attacker remains the top goalscorer at the club this season on 15 goals.
