Manchester United have reportedly made progress in their efforts to secure services of Fiorentina midfielder Federico Chiesa.
While the Premier League heavyweights have frequently been rumoured with Borussia Dortmund’s forward Jadon Sancho, Chiesa is another attack-minded player who they have in mind as an alternative for former Man City ace.
According to Corriere Fiorentino, The Red Devils have agreed to pay in the region of £50m for La Viola’s first-team star during the next transfer window.
However, the report adds that the Serie A outfits are yet to be convinced to end his current stint in Italian top-tier, having represented Fiorentina throughout his professional career.
The 22-year-old forward has managed to found back of the net six times and provided three assists in Italy’s top tier during the current season.
Ahead of potentially representing his national team at Euro 2020, much could depend on whether Chiesa is given assurances over his game time to any club he agrees to join.
Man Utd’s direct Premier League rivals Liverpool also thought to be in the race to sign Chiesa as they have identified Italian attacker as a possible replacement to Sadio Mane or Mohamed Salah as both of them have been rumoured with a departure from Anfield.
