Premier League giants Manchester United have reportedly opened talks with free agent forward Edinson Cavani over a switch to Old Trafford.
The 20-times English champions have been left frustrated in their summer-long pursuit of a new forward, with a deal for Borussia Dortmund’s winger Jadon Sancho so far failing to materialise.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is supposedly desperate to bring in a new player of some sort to strengthen his ranks on the back of an underwhelming start to the 2020-21 season.
According to the Daily Mail, focus has now shifted to Edinson Cavani, who has been without a team since departing from Paris Saint-Germain at the end of his deal in June.
During his time at the Parc des Princes, Edinson Cavani managed to found back of the net 200 times in 301 games to become the club’s all-time leading goalscorer.
The 33-year-old, previously rumoured with a move to Real Madrid, is believed to be open to joining a Premier League side.
Meanwhile, Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly planning a big-money bid to secure services of Manchester United versatile midifelder Jesse Lingard.
With Sergio Reguilon and Gareth Bale have joined the Spurs from Real Madrid on Saturday, it was believed that Jose Mourinho’s side may not make any further additions before the end of the current transfer window.
However, according to the Daily Star, Mourinho is open to a reunion with one of his favourite players Jesse Lingard, with whom he worked at Old Trafford
