Manchester United have reportedly opened talks over a move to secure services of Argentine talent Thiago Almada this summer despite Arsenal thought to be frontrunners for his signature.

The 19-year-old is believed to have been on the verge to a move to Man City last summer, only for his teams Velez Sarsfield to fail to agree on a price with the Citizens.

A number of teams have been keeping tabs on the promising playmaker this season, where he has scored five goals and provided two assists so far this campaign.

The Red Devils are now in talks to sign the promising playmaker, who has been labelled as the ‘next Lionel Messi’, with a view to triggering his reported £19m release clause.

The Gunners had been linked with their own move to secure the services of Almada, however, now look set to miss out with the 20-times English champions ahead of the game.

Fichajes in Spain also reports that Atletico Madrid are also interested in securing the services of the playmaker, however, they also look to be on the back foot following the latest reports.

The North London club may well turn their attentions to fellow South American starlet Gabriel Veron, who has also been making waves in recent campaigns.

The Merseyside Blues are also linked with an interest in the promising forward, who played a vital role in firing the Brazil Under-17 side to glory in the Under-17 World Cup last year.
