Man Utd have secured the signing of Alejandro Garnacho from Atletico Madrid after beating Real Madrid and Borussia Dortmund to his signature

Manchester United have signed the highly-rated teenager Alejandro Garnacho after fending off competition from Real Madrid.

The 16-year-old came through the ranks at Atletico Madrid, but will now move to Old Trafford.

Garnacho’s idol was Cristiano Ronaldo, which made the lure of playing for United all the more appealing.

Los Blancos also had their sights set on the teenager but the relationship between them and Atletico was always going to make a move challenging.

Borussia Dortmund, who are dealing with United regarding a potential move for Jadon Sancho, also had an interest in Garnacho.

The young striker, who had been playing for Atletico’s U19 side, will sign a five-year deal at Old Trafford according to Marca.

Garnacho is the latest player to join United’s youth ranks after the club also sealed deals for Alvaro Fernandez from Madrid and Marc Jurado from Barcelona.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has been more than willing to give youth a chance during his tenure.

Last season a host of academy products were given opportunities, especially in the cup competitions.
