Manchester United are allegedly at the head of the queue for Monaco centre-half Benoit Badiashile.
The 19-year-old French prodigy, who has been linked with the likes of Real Madrid and Bayer Leverkusen in recent weeks, made 20 appearances for his Ligue 1 sid during the 2019-20 campaign.
Monaco have the defender on a deal until the end of the 2023-24 campaign, but it was recently claimed that they would be open to selling the player for a figure in the region of €30m (£27m).
According to Le 10 Sport, the Red Devils are in pole position to sign the teenager in spite of competition from Leverkusen, Madrid and a number of other European sides during this summer’s transfer window.
Badiashile has made 46 appearances across all competitions for his current club since debuting two years go.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side are thought to be in the market for another central defender due to the uncertainty surrounding the futures of Marcos Rojo, Chris Smalling and Phil Jones.
Elsewhere, Manchester United attacker Tahith Chong has completed a season-long loan transfer to Werder Bremen.
The Holland youth international only signed a new deal at Old Trafford in March, which keeps him contracted to the Red Devils until June 2022, with the option to extend the deal by a further year.
Tahith told the official club website: “First of all, I’m happy to be here and I’m looking forward to pre-season training with the team.
“This move is a great opportunity for me to develop. I’m looking forward to next season.”
