Ed Woodward sends transfer warning to Ole Gunnar Solskjaer amidst Kieran Trippier links

According to Daily Star (h/t Express), Manchester United head honcho, Ed Woodward, has sent a warning to Ole Gunnar Solskjaer over further transfers. He has pointed out that players will need to be sold if Solskjaer wants a few more new signings to walk through the door. United have spent close to £120million on their business so far.

Manchester United have been one of the busiest big-6 Premier League clubs in the transfer window. Jadon Sancho was recently announced and then the Raphael Varane deal was also confirmed. However, it would appear that United are not keen on wrapping up their business.

They have one more transfer target in the form of Kieran Trippier. Solskjaer remains keen on the Atletico Madrid man as he looks to bolster all areas of the squad for the new season. However, Trippier could cost United a solid £30m, which has soured United’s pursuit of him.

Nonetheless, for any further signings to take place, players must be sold first. Woodward has conveyed to Solskjaer about the same and the latter must now let go of players who are no longer necessary. Paul Pogba, Phil Jones and Anthony Martial have all been hovering around that category.

United have spent a decent amount so far and should look to get some fringe players off their books. There are several sellable assets from some of the names mentioned above. Those would be vital to United securing any more new signings such as Trippier, who can add valuable cover for Aaron Wan-Bissaka on the right-hand side of the defence.
