Manchester United and Arsenal are allegedly set to battle for the services of Napoli striker Victor Osimhen in the summer.

In spite of multiple weeks on the sidelines with injury this campaign, the 23-year-old has netted 11 goals and provided four assists in 22 matches for the Italian outfit in all competitions.

With the long-term futures of experienced forward Edinson Cavani and Cristiano Ronaldo uncertain, the 20-time English champions are set to target a fresh face in the final third of the pitch ahead of next season.

The Gunners, meanwhile, are also in the transfer market for a new number nine, following the departure of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang to Barcelona and with Eddie Nketiah and Alexandre Lacazette both out of contract in June.

According to football.london, both teams are both keeping tabs on £84m-rated Victor, who has two-and-a-half years remaining on his Partenopei contract.

The same report also refers to comments from the Italian journalist Paolo Bargiggia, who claims that the former Lille ace came close to joining the Londoners in 2020 before deciding to switch to Naples from Les Dogues.

The player has made a total of 52 appearances for his side in all competitions, scoring 21 times and registering seven assists.
