Manchester United are reportedly planning a £40 million offer for Real Madrid centre-back Raphael Varane. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is looking to bring in a defensive partner for Harry Maguire in the upcoming market.
Sevilla’s Jules Kounde and Villarreal centre-half Pau Torres are also on Solskjaer’s shortlist but the club are now pressing ahead with a move for Raphael.
According to a recent report from the Daily Mirror, the Red Devils are lining up a £40 million bid for the France international this summer.
And the report states that Solskjaer has told Manchester United’s board that Varane is the defender he wants to be brought into his roster ahead of next season.
He will have just one year remaining on his deal with Madrid at the end of the season and the 28-year-old is thinking about a move to the Premier League after spending 10 years in the Spanish capital.
Madrid, meantime, will look to sell Varane in the summer transfer market ss they do not want to lose the player on a free transfer next year.
United have previously attempted to snap Varane up during the Portuguese tactician Jose Mourinho’s time at the club, but the France international opted to remain at Madrid.
