Manchester United are in search of a central defender and they have been linked with Spanish international Pau Torres for quite some time.

If the latest reports in the media are anything to go by then Man Utd are about to launch a bid to finally sign the Villareal star, who is currently with the national squad for the European Championships.

According to La Gazzetta Dello Sport the Red Devils are preparing to attack to hire the services of the La Roja star from the Yellow Submarine this summer.

The renowned Italian source have mentioned that the Old Trafford outfit have been chasing the 24-year-old center back for quite a while and now, they are finally about to make an offer worth 50 million euros (£43million) to sign him.

GdS claim that Real Madrid, who have already lost Ramos and might lose Varane, could be interested in Torres, but yesterday, AS, revealed that the Los Blancos have economic concerns and believe they might only afford to sign him next year.

The Spanish source reported that Man Utd see the Villareal star as the perfect man to partner Harry Maguire in the central defense. They also pointed out that his valuation is 50 million euros. However, in April, La Razon reported that the only way the La Liga side would allow their prized asset to leave is if the 65 million euros release clause (£56million) in his contract is met.

Torres was impressive in the El Madrigal outfit’s Europa League winning campaign last term in which they defeated Man United in the final. In the absence of captain Ramos, he is leading the backline for Spain at the Euros and helped his team keep a clean sheet in the opening fixture vs Sweden.

Last night, the 10-capped international was rock solid against Poland as well but Lewandowski managed to find the net in the second half after winning the aerial duel with Aymeric Laporte. In your view, should Man Utd secure the signing of Pau Torres to improve the central defense for next season?
