According to The Gary Neville Podcast (h/t Daily Mail), Manchester United legend Gary Neville has urged the club to sign Watford winger Ismaila Sarr.
The Senegalese star is seen as an alternative to Borussia Dortmund wonderkid Jadon Sancho. United are keen on bringing in a right-winger but the Germans are holding out for £100million for the player.
Primarily a right-winger, Sarr can play anywhere along the front line. He made his name at Ligue 1 side Rennes before moving to Vicarage Road last summer.
Sarr has made 28 appearances for the Hornets this season. He scored six goals and five assists during that time. Although they aren’t groundbreaking numbers, he is still just 22 and has time on his side.
A player with exhilarating pace and superb finishing, Sarr has shown he has what it takes to compete at the highest level. Neville believes these traits will add a lot to his former side.
“Manchester United need a right winger. He’s a big, big talent, honestly he really is.”
Watford fell 3-1 to West Ham United on the night. But every single attack perpetrated by the Hornets came through the Senegalese star.
With Watford still involved in the relegation battle, their Premier League future is far from certain. It remains to be seen if we have an advantage in securing a transfer if they do go down.
“He’ll be sought after and Watford will, I’m sure, cash in if they get the right bid.”
Sarr is Watford’s record signing. His contract at Vicarage Road runs until 2024. According to the report, if the club were to be relegated, a clause in his contract would allow Sarr the option to leave.
