Manchester United have a long standing interest in Italian international Nicolo Zaniolo and the latest reports are intriguing.

According to Il Messagero, Man Utd are pushing to secure the signing of the Roma star, a purchase that could prove to be a massive bargain for 30 million euros (£25.5million).

Zaniolo rose to fame for the Giallorossi in the 2018-19 campaign and in November 2019, his valuation rose to 80 million euros (Leggo).

In the last campaign, the Azzurri star had an injury hit season, in which he scored 8 goals and provided 3 assists in all competitions.

Back in May last year, Leggo talked about Man Utd’s interest in the attacker, who was then valued in excess of 60 million euros.

Now, Il Messagero reveal that his market price has further dropped mainly because of the consistent injury concerns and due to the financial implications of COVID-19.

Zaniolo is naturally a central attacking midfielder but he can effectively play on the right flank as well. The 21-year-old has already made 7 appearances for the senior national side and scored 2 goals under the management of former Man City coach Roberto Mancini.

Unfortunately, the Italian attacker has not played a single game for Roma this season and has been out due to a cruciate ligament rupture.

Man Utd do need to improve their offense and Zaniolo has the talent to shine but in all fairness, they need a proven quality and more importantly a fit attacker to strengthen things up front. Solskjaer should definitely avoid signing a highly injury prone player.
