Manchester United will turn to Eduardo Camavinga after Varane deal
According to transfer news from Daily Star, Manchester United will turn their attention to Eduardo Camavinga after completing a deal for Varane. Camavinga is a long-term target for United and could be available for as little as £25million.
The Rennes starlet holds some distinguished records. Signing his first professional contract in 2018, Camavinga became the youngest player ever to feature for Rennes. He made his debut for the first-team in April 2019 against Angers. So far, Camavinga has made 82 appearances for Rennes, scoring twice and assisting five in the process (h/t Transfermarkt).
Manchester United are looking to add a new midfielder to the side as the current options apart from Fernandes and Pogba leave a lot to be desired. A natural central midfielder, Camavinga can also be used in a deeper role. The problem for Rennes is that his contract ends in a year and they either have to sell him now or lose him for free in 2022.
As Manchester United close in on the signing of Raphael Varane, the club will then turn their attention to Eduardo Camavinga. With his deal ending next summer, he could be procured for a modest fee of £25million. Camavinga has been on the radar of United for a while now.
Given United’s apparent need for a defensive midfielder, they can afford to spend that amount on Camavinga. After all, he is just 18 and would be an option for the long term. Given the squad United have at their disposal, Camavinga can be a decent fit with his youthful energy.
