Manchester United remain interested in Nathan Ake despite Bournemouth accepting an offer from Manchester City, according to the Sun.

The Citizens took a giant stride towards landing the former Chelsea defender this week after it emerged that the Cherries have accepted a £41 million bid from the Citizens.

The Premier League heavyweights will now look to lock down the paperwork with the newly relegated outfit and get the deal over the line.

Nathan is also expected to travel to Manchester in the coming days to agree to personal terms and undergo a medical with Pep Guardiola’s side.

However, there could be a late attempt from the Red Devils as the club are still keen. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s admires Nathan and the club remain interested in signing the defender.

Ake is one of the four names on the club’s shortlist of defenders and it remains to be seen whether they put in a rival bid with the Cherries for the 25-year-old.

However, the 20-times English champions already have seven centre-backs on their books and they may be reluctant to move for another before trimming that number.

Meantime, Manchester United are allegedly monitoring any developments with Crystal Palace attacker Wilfried Zaha.

After spending the last six seasons at Selhurst Park, Zaha may be allowed to move on to a bigger side during the summer transfer window.

According to The Mirror, the Red Devils are interested in any movement with regards to a transfer because of a sell-on fee which they inserted when the star left Old Trafford on a permanent deal in 2015.

The report adds that United stand to receive 25 per cent of any fee generated from the sale of the attacker, who is understood to be interesting Borussia Dortmund.
