Red Devils have reportedly been in contact with Willian’s representatives to discuss signing the Chelsea winger on a free transfer. The 31-year-old winger’s current deal is due to expire on June 30, and the London giants are unlikely to offer him the three-year extension he is demanding.
Brazil international is even hesitant to sign a short-term deal to ensure he can play out the rest of Chelsea’s Premier League matches this campaign as he is worried about injuries stopping him finding a new club.
Red Devils have now reached out to the footballer and his agent, Kia Joorabchian, to register their interest in signing the winger. PSG and Real Madrid are also said to be keen, but the Spanish giants, similarly to the London giants, are reluctant to offer him a three-year deal.
The report states that Man United want to add some experience to their young front line of Anthony Martial, Marcus Rashford and Mason Greenwood. Given the financial impact of the covid crisis, recruiting the Brazilian winger for free is an attractive prospect for Man United.
The Brazilian winger admitted last month that while the uncertainty surrounding his future is proving to be ‘difficult’, he stays focused on giving his all on the pitch. ‘It’s a difficult situation because Chelsea offered me two years and they are not going to change what they offered.
I said I wanted three more years,’ the forward said. ‘The situation is difficult because of this. I don’t know if it will be possible. My goal is to continue working and focus on the remainder of the season so that Chelsea can continue winning games.’
