Manchester United spent heavily and lured Harry Maguire and Aaron Wan-Bissaka last summer to strengthen their defense.

However, a former Red Devil has backed the club to further reinforce the back-line by signing another top central defender in the form of Kalidou Koulibaly.

Dwight Yorke believes that the Senegalese international would be a perfect signing for the 20-time English champions, who should move to sign him if they have the funds.

The ex striker told Stadium Astro:

“Without a doubt I think he’s (Koulibaly) one that everyone is after and if Manchester United are going to make some big signings like they always do, I would definitely [sign him], if we can afford him then why not?

“If I was Ole or in Ole’s position, I would be persuading to get him because I know how important [it is] to have another centre-half of his quality alongside Maguire.

The 29-year-old star has been the most consistent center back in the Italian league. He is the only defender who has made it into the Serie A Team of the Year in the past four years.

In the current campaign, the former Genk man has spent a lot of time on the treatment table but since the resumption of the campaign, the African star has been fit and back to his best. He was rock solid at the back for Napoli in their Coppa Italia final victory vs Juventus.

Koulibaly’s current contract with the Naples based side will expire in 2023 and as per reports in France (Le10Sport), he could be sold for around 75 million euros (£67million).

Our defense has been better than last season and in the past few games, it has been very very strong. We have kept 6 clean sheets in the last 8 PL fixtures and conceded just 2 goals.

Therefore, I do not think that we should spend the above mentioned price to sign Kalidou Koulibaly, who will turn 30 in 2021. Instead, other key departments should be strengthened this summer.
