The agent of Real Madrid playmaker James Rodriguez has reportedly held negotiations with both Manchester United and Juventus to discuss a transfer away from the Bernabeu for his client.

The Colombia international is widely expected to depart Madrid during this summer’s transfer market and could allegedly be available for less than €30 million (£26.3m).

United have recently been touted with an interest in the South American, and according to AS, James’ agent Jorge Mendes has recently held discussions with the Red Devils.

The report states that the playmaker’s entourage has also been in touch with Juventus, though, as the Italian champions weigh up a move during this summer’s transfer period.

Rodriguez spent the 2017-18 and 2018-19 seasons on loan with Bayern Munich before returning to the Galacticos last summer.

The 28-year-old star has found it difficult to command a regular spot in Zinedine Zidane’s starting XI this season, though, scoring just once in 13 appearances across all competitions.

In other news, Liverpool hero Ian Rush has insisted that he never had any intention of signing for Manchester United during the second half of his career.

Ian is quoted by the Liverpool Echo as saying: “It was shock at first. I thought it was a joke. He gave me his number and in fairness he sold me the club.

“I did read in [Owen’s] book that Dalglish got me out at the 11th hour. I was never going to Manchester United. I knew the rivalry. Kenny didn’t have to sell the club. He made my mind up for me.”
